We re-opened on June 1st 2020. This could change if advised by Dr. Bonnie Henery.... we are closely monitoring the updates around the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak set by Health BC.
Although for the time being our region is mildly affected, we want to act fast and ensure we’re taking all the precautionary measures to avoid any risks. We as a company have always had strict sanitation procedures when working on location and at home with brush and makeup sanitation. However, our industry is not regulated and this may change soon. Please note that we are taking the necessary steps to ensure our practices are safe and will abide by any regulations put in place moving forward. The Safety of our clients and stylists are top priority!
See below for more detailed information on how we plan to operate! From all of us at Mink, we wish you and your family all the best during the Covid Pendemic and we will see you soon! Thank-you so much for your Support, it means the world to us!
We have made some changes to ensure we are keeping you and our team safe. Most of these are protocols, such as wearing personal protective equipment worn by me or staff, staggered start times (to ensure minimal congregation of staff) as well as even more rigorous cleaning and disinfecting schedules for work space(s). This information is updated weekly so is subject to change. We have created this list from data collected in an online survey we had out and is still live, we encourage you to TAKE THE SURVEY by clicking here and to VIEW the current results please visit Survey Results.
We thank you for your cooperation so that we can provide you and our team the safest environment possible!
What we are doing
We have cut down on the number of bookings one stylist will take on in a day, week and month slightly. Initially, we have had 1-3 clients per day (makeup, hair and lashes). Multiple clients in a booking will require longer booking times to allow for cleaning between applications (ex: bridal parties). We will also be limiting weekend appointments.
We will wash our hands upon arrival to your home/hotel room (or other location), before makeup/hair/lash service and in-between every service or client (on larger bookings) and sanitize our hands with hand sanitizer throughout the appointment and if we need to touch something at our station(s) (products etc).
We will be wearing a Face Mask and Face Shield for the duration of your appointment. Stylist(s) will arrive with a carbon filtered Face Mask on and the Face Shield will be worn during services(s)
As always, we follow strict protocols for cleaning tweezers, spatulas, makeup brushes and other equipment between each client, including full immersion in an industry-specific virucidal solution, for your safety (lash services) and 70% Isopropyl Alcohol for makeup and hair services. Stylists are using approved cleaners and methods for cleaning tools and makeup once before and after your booking. Stylists are also minimizing their kits to minimize items needing to be sanitized. A FaceTime/Skype/Zoom meeting will be scheduled with stylist and client 1-3 days prior to booking to allow for stylist to pack what is needed for the booking. The client will be required to present a mood board or inspiration images prior to virtual meeting via email.
If you would like us to wear gloves, we will but please do keep in mind that obtaining gloves is difficult at the moment and with our vigorous hand-washing and hand sanitizing throughout the appointment, we feel that it is sufficient but will wear gloves upon request (in advance).
Myself and team members have completed Covid-19 Infection Prevention Certificates (Beauty Safe Level 1 & 2, Barbicide, and other infectious disease control certifications such as Milady and Sanitation Conversation-Makeup Artist Specific) ONLY the stylists who have completed Beauty Safe level 1 and Barbicide -Covid-19 will be allowed to work on behalf of Mink Makeup & Hair.
Nobody from our team has been overseas in the last 3 months (no-one’s been anyway, actually!)
Myself and anyone from the team that is experiencing a fever/raised temperature or any cold/flu like symptoms, will not be permitted to work. Your stylist will be changed and/or appointment will be rescheduled.
HERE’S WHAT WE ASK OF YOU
A friendly reminder that if you aren’t feeling well/have symptoms, if you have been in contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19, or recently returned from overseas in the last 30 days – please reschedule your appointment to a later date or after you have tested negative.
We request that you wash your hands at the start of your appointment . Additionally, sanitizer will be available in our kit for your use.
A disposable Face Mask will be given to you to wear during treatments if you DO NOT have one (excluding makeup applications). Please wear it and dispose of it afterwards. Please keep in mind that PPE supplies are hard to get for a fair price so if you have your own please feel free to use it! A $5/ person surcharge will be added to each booking till further notice, please note that we have not raised our rates.
Please DO NOT bring/have anyone else to/at your appointment. We are very sorry – but due to social distancing protocols set by Dr. Bonnie Henry, we absolutely cannot accommodate any additional guests in your space at this time, including children, partners and pets. If this is not possible for you, please let us know and we will do our best to come up with a solution! Our Vancouver Studio is no longer available for use since we share the space with another Wedding Vendor and there is not enough space for social distancing.
All clients will be required to read and sign a Release of Liability form prior to each appointment. As well, we will be adding a virtual consultation with stylist and client prior to appointment to minimize the amount of products we bring therefore limiting the amount of items needing sanitization.
